Getting Started
How do I create my first batch?
Open the app and tap the + button to create a new batch. Give it a name, then add your pieces with their starting weights. The app will guide you through the setup step by step.
What's the difference between a piece and a batch?
A batch is a group of meat pieces that are drying together at the same time. Each individual strip of meat is a piece, tracked separately by weight so you can see exactly how each one is progressing.
How often should I weigh my pieces?
We recommend weighing daily for the best tracking accuracy. The app will send you a reminder so you don't forget. Consistent measurements give you the most accurate moisture-loss percentage over time.
Account & Data
How do I reset my password?
On the login screen, tap Forgot password and enter your email address. You'll receive a reset link within a few minutes. Check your spam folder if it doesn't arrive.
Can I export my data?
Yes. Email [email protected] to request a full export of your account data. We'll send it to your registered email address within one calendar month (or sooner where possible), as required under UK GDPR.
How do I delete my account?
Email [email protected] with the subject "Delete my account" and we'll permanently remove all your data within one calendar month (or sooner where possible). This action cannot be undone.
Troubleshooting
The app isn't loading
Try clearing your browser cache, or uninstall and reinstall the app. Check that your internet connection is active. If the issue persists, email us with your device model and OS version.
My data isn't syncing
Make sure you're connected to the internet, then pull down on the main screen to force a refresh. If data is still out of sync after a minute or two, contact support and we'll look into it.
Push notifications aren't working
Check your device's system settings: Settings → Notifications → Biltong Buddy and make sure notifications are allowed. On iOS you may also need to check that Focus mode isn't blocking them.
Pricing
Is Biltong Buddy free?
Yes. Biltong Buddy is currently free for everyone, with no ads and no in-app purchases. We plan to introduce optional paid features in a future release. If you have an account when we do, we'll email you at least 30 days before anything changes, and you'll have the choice to stay on the free plan.

Bug reports help us ship a better app. When emailing us, please include the following so we can reproduce and fix the issue quickly:
- Your device model and operating system version
- The app version (found in Settings)
- What you were doing when the bug occurred
- What you expected to happen
- What actually happened (screenshots welcome)
